I hate paper!

I hate paper!

Too much paper, too little worth-while information! I hate this way of working with information!

Yesterday, my wife and I were having to go through some letters and paperwork that has mounted up over last couple of months (no more than that).

I took us a good half day to sift through all of it, working out that 80% of it was a total waste which has, over time, lost value and is no longer needed.

So half a day gone towards sorting out rubbish, most of which should have never been sent to us in the first place on paper.

If this information was sent via email, so much environment would be saved, so much space and so much time wasting, since I find paper use to be one of the highest productivity killers of all.

It was interesting to see that most of the information was also in the form of meeting minutes, short term statistical information, brochures and various events invitations, all of which could have resided on-line or in an email message and would have been much more useful in my opinion.

So, because other people work in a way which is suitable for some time in the past, every two months I have to go through the whole malarkey of sorting out the junk information, shredding it, wasting time on it and so on.

I wonder when we are going to wise up about the way we lead our day-to-day lives with regards to this matter?!
